I Got Tagged!

Filed under: General — Jenn @ 4:41 am

A fun, new photographer I just met tagged me today I am so excited. I love meet new or new to me, photographers, I tend to get inspiration though others, and finding new blogs and people is always fun! Tess is her name and At Last Photography is her blog.

And now, guess what, I get to tell you 5 random things about me, you might not know…so here goes.

      1. I love NASCAR – yep, I am weird, but my dad has always enjoyed it, so I grew up around it. Granted I do have more fun GOING to a race than watching them on TV but I do watch – My guy is Jeff Gordon, but I also really like JR.
      2. I love baked stuff, cakes (my brother in law has gotten me into eating chocolate cake with white icing, LOVE IT), brownies (yummy hot brownies with vanilla ice-cream = heaven), ect. – And though I eat cookies and candy, it’s not my “thing” usually.
      3. I am a night owl, I usually can be found up at 1 Am or 2 Am – often times working, editing pictures, writing on the blog, updating my flickr stream or posting on Clickinmoms.
      4. Because of number 3, I find it hard to wake up in the AM. However, no matter what I do, I can’t seem to get to sleep earlier, nothing works for me.
      5. I love kids, I know it might be obvious, but I really do – I love being around them, I love talking to them, I love taking pictures of them. I was a nanny, I have worked in a daycare, and a preschool – now I love to grab each moment of their lives and preserve them, in print.

So now it’s my turn to tag some awesome photographers, you ready?

First and foremost it’s Laura – Laura and I “met” on Flickr, and became fast friends – she’s an awesome photographer and a wonderful friend. We have shared information; we’ve given each other tips, and given each other confidence. It’s because of Laura that I strive to become better at my craft! Laura’s blog is, Laura Bristow Photography!

The 2nd person I am going to tag is Christina of Momology – this lady is nothing short of amazing. Her daughter is so adorable, and I really like the way Christina “uses” her camera to capture her subjects using, lighting, composition as well as, you can tell she really thinks about each and every shot!

3rd but still amazing is Kelsey at My Sweet Life, Kelsey has taught me a lot, not only about photography but about composition – and about really thinking about each shot. Kelsey is just a lot of fun, I mean she posts pictures of the kids in there undies – her blog is just FUN and her pictures are just beautiful.

Still going to number 4, another wonderful photographer, whom I met on Flickr, Jessica is a wonderful photographer, and when I need some inspiration for color – she’s my number 1 girl. Jessica uses color in amazing ways, and usually so unexpectedly. Her site is Ordinary Morning Photography.

Last but not least, is Paula, of Paula O’Hara Photography. I just “met” Paula today her pictures are amazing. I love the use of textures that she does, I myself have trouble using them so I really enjoyed seeing what she had to offer.

So come on ladies, it’s your turn, lets see some juicy stuff about you!

And now, because I can’t leave you with out a picture – I put this together tonight, it’s another “thing” about me you might not know – I love sleepy kids/babies -

Do you ever find yourself just watching your children sleep?

Filed under: Kids, Photography — Jenn @ 4:01 am

It might sound weird, but ever since both of my kids were tiny things – I would sit up watching them sleep, watching their little chests rise and fall with each breath they took, watching their little faces, hands and feet, even listening for their heartbeats, which in the dead of night, when all is quiet, you can hear.

I have always nursed Zachary, so those middle of the night feedings were one’s I often looked forward to, the house was quiet, and I could just sit, and enjoy him –

Now, he is growing up, and sometimes I so wish I could press pause, I wish that for both of them really – I love the people they are becoming don’t get me wrong, but miss the tiny people they once were…

Zachary is so full of life; I wish I could bottle his energy sometimes, because I struggle to keep up. Most of the time, he’s smiling and loving life – he’s all boy; a noisy with dirt on it, constantly. I love it when he just looks up at me and out of the blue says, “I love you mommy, you know that.” Those times…mean more to me than anything…ever.

Aubrey, she’s growing up at the speed of light, and turning into a beautiful, smart, loving little girl who’s always got a smile and kind word for everyone she meets. I promise you that girls never met a stranger. She loves people and life; I hope she never loses that! I love “hanging out” with her, as she loves to call it now, we are able to do “girl stuff” and it’s a ton of fun!

So, it’s in these times during the secret of the night, when the house is quiet, I am able again to just watch them peacefully sleep, watch their little chests rise and fall, listen to their breath, and watch their little faces.

I always heard having kids is like having your heart walk around outside of your chest, and though it was silly, until the day I became a mother…
